Meg Ryan, blonde-haired and blue-eyed
She was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield Connecticut to Susan
(Duggan), a former actress and English teacher and Harry Hyra, a maths teacher.
Ruthenian and Polish, Irish, German, and German heritage. "Hyra" is
her maternal grandmother's maiden name is Ruthenian. Meg was graduated in June
1979 Bethel highschool, Bethel. Meg relocated to New York City and studied
journalism at New York University. Meg Ryan was her name, and she began acting
in order to earn additional money as she finished her education. In 1981, she
made her big screen debut with a brief appearance as Candice Bergen's daughter
in George Cukor's last film Rich and Famous (1981). She was a test subject and
was selected to play Betsy in the daytime soap on television As the World Turns
(1956). From 1982 to 1984, she was part of the show's cast. Meg was also a part
of the TV series One of the Boys (1982), which was quickly cancelled. Her move
to Hollywood came in 1984, where she was offered a job on the western series
Wildside (1985). Meg was a part-time actress in Top Gun (1986), and was then
part of Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) in which she appeared alongside
Dennis Quaid. She again co-starred with Quaid in the remake of D.O.A. (1988)
They were married on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. Meg was in 1989's When Harry
Met Sally... (1989), and the restaurant scene was made famous. Meg was twice
nominated for the Golden Globe and BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom
Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as
DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. In 1993, Meg starred alongside Tom in Sleepless in
Seattle (1993) in which she was nominated again for the Golden Globe. Meg chose
to stand out from the crowd in 1994, by playing the part of Meg as an alcoholic
wife/mother in the film When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). After that, Meg
returned to her "cute" I.Q. (1994) & French Kiss (1995). In
1994, Meg won the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award for being "Woman of the Year"
and was voted as one of "The 50 most beautiful people in the world in
1994" by People Magazine.
